Gene Yeo

Chief Scientist at Sanford Lab for Innovative Medicines

Gene Yeo, PhD, MBA, is a Professor of Cellular and Molecular Medicine at UC San Diego and Director of UCSD’s Center for RNA Technologies and Therapeutics. He holds a BSc in Chemical Engineering, a BA in Economics, a Ph.D. in Computational Neuroscience, and an MBA. Dr. Yeo’s research focuses on RNA processing and RNA binding proteins (RBPs) in development and disease. He has over 250 publications and has developed innovative methods like enhanced CLIP and STAMP technology. He also works on RNA-targeting therapies and stem cell-based disease models. Dr. Yeo has received numerous awards, including the Early Career Award from the International RNA Society.
