As the LIMBER’s Chief Executive Officer and Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Pelz manages fundraising, business development, operations, and the design and manufacturing of the prosthetic limbs. He has a BS in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2017) from the Colorado School of Mines and a Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering (2022) from the University of California, San Diego. Dr. Pelz’s formal training in materials science and engineering is supplemented by a life-long interest in mechanical, electrical, and software engineering. His extensive engineering background in combination with more than a decade of expertise in additive manufacturing provides a unique opportunity to solve cutting-edge problems. His thesis research explored novel additive manufacturing processes with the goal to enable bioinspired design in advanced materials for enhanced structural performance. Under Dr. Pelz’s leadership, LIMBER has raised more than $1M of seed funding and fit more than 35 patients with their life-changing prosthetic leg. He envisions a world where access to high-quality prosthetic care allows all to get back on their feet with dignity.
