As a Director for Cleantech San Diego, Zac oversees the Southern California Energy Innovation Network (SCEIN). This California Energy Commission-funded program provides innovative energy startups in San Diego, Imperial, San Bernardino, and Riverside counties with access to industry connections and resources in order to accelerate the commercialization of emerging energy technologies. To date, 76 companies have been served by SCEIN, 37 of which are active in the program in 2024. Together, these startups employ 842 people, have had 408 patents approved, and have raised $618 million in follow-on funding from public and private sources since being accepted into the program. Zac currently serves as Board Chair of the San Diego Innovation Council and is on the Advisory Commitee of Scripps Institution of Oceanography’s startBlue bluetech accelerator program. He received a Bachelor of Commerce from Dalhousie University and his MBA from the University of San Diego.
